About the role

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced Peer Team Leader for a 15 month fixed term, part time (7.6 hours per week) opportunity to work alongside the Crisis Support Space (CSS) service in the Mackay area. You will utilise your lived experience of mental ill health to lead and support a team to deliver person-centred, recovery-oriented care to clients to build their capacity and life skills, strengthen social networks, enhance community connections, develop linkage to service providers and achieve wellbeing goals. The Team Leader will act as the practice lead to staff providing supervision, mentoring and coaching.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Utilise your own lived experience of mental ill health and recovery to inform your work and that of the team.
  • Coach and lead a team to deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Support clients to remain in the community, prioritise and promote their wellbeing goals and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
  • Lead and model effective practice to staff working with clients, provide support to families and carers, and plan and deliver group work.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the service including administration, rostering, facilitating handovers, recruitment and planning budget expenditure.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Able to provide a record of Vaccination Preventable Diseases or able to obtain vaccinations against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken Pox, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis B or other diseases as required by our Partnership with QLD Health.
  • Lived experience and willingness to support clients through sharing your own learnings and recovery-orientated practice is required.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, AOD issues, complex needs and collaborating with families and carers.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and develop a team to achieve best quality service outcomes and provide professional supervision.
