About the role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Team Leader to join the Youth Psychosocial Support Package (YPSP) program. This fixed-term, part-time role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and supporting a team of Peer Practitioners to deliver recovery-focused outreach services to young people with complex mental health challenges.

 

About the service

The Youth Psychosocial Support Package (YPSP) provides intensive outreach support for young people aged 16 - 24 in the Perth metropolitan area who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues, with or without co-occurring AOD concerns. The 12-month program helps participants improve their mental health and wellbeing, maintain stable housing, build confidence, manage day-to-day living, and start or re-engage with education and/or employment.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and model high-quality, person-centred support aligned with Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice and Peer Work Framework.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and reflective practice to Peer Practitioners, ensuring effective service delivery.
  • Deliver and oversee direct support to young people to promote independent living, mental health recovery, and community participation.
  • Support daily operational functions, including rostering, handovers, incident management, compliance, and reporting.
  • Champion co-design and peer-led practices and collaborate with families, carers, housing partners, and local service providers to meet client recovery goals.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive team environment.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work or other health-related field.
  • Extensive experience working with young people with complex mental health challenges, preferably in outreach or community-based settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including staff supervision, mentoring, and building team capability.
  • Strong understanding of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice, family-inclusive approaches, and harm reduction.
