About the role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Team Leader to join our new Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service (YRRS) in Caboolture. In this permanent, part-time role will lead and support a team in delivering high-quality, recovery-oriented services to young people, their families, and carers in line with Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice and organisational values for people with a psychosocial disability.
In this role you will act as the practice lead, providing supervision, mentoring and coaching to staff, and you will have oversight of the service operational requirements.
About the service
The Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service (YRRS) is designed to support young people aged 16 to 21 as they transition from an acute mental health setting to community living or to prevent further hospital admissions. In a homelike environment with 24-hour access to staff, young people are supported to achieve their recovery goals, strengthen relationships with families and carers, develop social connections, and build confidence to live independently and safely in the community. The service provides personalised one-to-one support, shared supports, workshops, and group activities based on the client’s strengths and goals as outlined in their individual recovery plan.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and model effective practice to staff working with young people, provide support to families and carers, and plan and deliver group work.
- Coach staff to problem solve, develop creative solutions and remain motivated in meeting young people’s goals.
- Provide direct support to young people, enabling them to develop independent living skills and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the residential service, including administration, rostering, facilitating handovers, and monitoring budget expenditure.
- Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a coordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
- Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Proven experience in Community Services, Mental Health, Disability, Social Welfare, Housing, Healthcare or Government sectors is required.
- Expertise in supporting people with mental health challenges and complex needs, with proven ability to lead teams in recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and family-inclusive practices.
- Able to provide a record of Vaccination Preventable Diseases or able to obtain vaccinations against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken Pox, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis B or other diseases as required by our Partnership with QLD Health.
