About the role

We are seeking a resilient and empathetic Community Mental Health Practitioner to join our short-stay Step-Up Step-Down (Kwelena SUSD) residential service in Rockingham on a fixed-term, part-time basis (19 hours per week).

 

In this role, you will deliver intensive, person-centred, recovery-oriented support to help people achieve their wellbeing goals, build independent living skills and daily routines, and strengthen their confidence and connections within the community. This role requires flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and sleepovers.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Support people to return to their community, live independently, and lead meaningful lives through a staged recovery approach.
  • Engage purposefully using approaches such as motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and family-inclusive practice.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that build skills and support recovery.
  • Collaborate with services and the broader community to ensure coordinated, integrated care.
  • Contribute to day-to-day operations of the residential service, including light housekeeping duties.

 

 What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
