      About the role

      Youth Residential Recovery Service (YRR) is a strengths focused, recovery-orientated residential service that supports young people aged between 16-25 years who are experiencing mental health challenges for up to 12 months. In a safe home-like environment, the service provides clients individual and group-based supports that build resilience, develop life skills, enhance social connections, enable access to community networks and promote a greater sense of being able to make sound decisions. Young people benefit from sharing their experiences and recovery journeys whilst growing their confidence, capacity and skills to live independently in the community.

      We are seeking self-motivated, compassionate Community Mental Health for a Permanent, Part Time (30.4 hours per week) opportunity on a 24/7 rotating roster (with weekend and sleepover shifts) in the Clifton Hill area. You will deliver person-centred, recovery-oriented care to support young people to build capacity and life skills, develop support networks, strengthen relationships with family and friends, live independently and achieve wellbeing goals.

       

      Key responsibilities

      • Work with clients to return to a place of residence and a meaningful life supporting them through a staged approach to recovery.
      • Plan and develop group work programs that will assist clients to build their skills, focus on their recovery and work towards transitioning back to their natural community.
      • Support family and carer roles through understanding their concerns and the provision of information, education and referrals.
      • Engage with clients to fully understand their need for assistance from local service providers with clinical mental health, physical health, education and employment, eligible entitlements and benefits, housing, transport, recreation and social connections.
      • Collaborate with others in the client’s life including family, carers, mainstream support and other service providers chosen by the client to deliver elements of their plans.
      • Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.

       

      What you’ll bring

      • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field as designated by Mind.
      • Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
      • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of theoretical approaches, practices and appropriate service responses including family inclusive practice, trauma informed theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and harm reduction therapy.
      • Experience in assessing need and working collaboratively to plan goal focused recovery using evidence informed approaches and tools
      • Ability to co-design, co-produce and co-facilitate groups and education support.
