About the role

Mind celebrates diversity and promotes inclusion for all people including employees, volunteers, clients, families and carers. The Inclusion and Participation business unit focuses on equity, using evidence to inform practice, responsive and sensitive, person-centred and taking a systemic approach. The business unit aims to ensure that organisational systems and processes incorporate the voices and contributions of the people who work, use or benefit from services. The work is delivered in alignment with the Lived Experience Strategy, Peer Work Framework, Participation and Co-design Framework, Diversity and Inclusion Framework, and Reconciliation Action Plan.

We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate Community Partnerships and Participation Advisor for a permanent, full time opportunity at our Central Office in the Heidelberg area. With work from home options, you will drive implementation of programs that distinguish the organisation as a leader in diversity, inclusion and service user participation. Utilising lived experience of mental ill health and recovery this role will enhance workforce capability, build community partnerships and embed client, family and carers voices in decision making.

Key responsibilities

• Use lived experience of mental ill health to develop programs, implement diversity and inclusion values, and embed service user participation.
• Plan, coordinate and implement projects supporting place-based approaches and utilise principles of community development, participation and co-design.
• Support stakeholders to progress strategies and ensure infrastructure, systems and processes enhance diversity and inclusion practice.
• Create and initiate training programs to strengthen and educate the workforce.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand engagement with diverse communities and identify opportunities for participation and partnership development within the organisation.

What you’ll bring

• Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Social Work, Community Services, Health Promotion or other related field and/or equivalent experience in a similar industry.
• A lived experience of mental ill health and recovery with an understanding of lived experience approaches including peer work, co-design and workforce development.
• Previous experience in Mental Health, Disability, Community Services or Engagement, Health Promotion, Healthcare or Government sectors is required.
• Demonstrated desire to champion strategies, manage projects, and support peer workers at program, organisation and community level.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with lived experience colleagues, community groups, service providers, funders and key stakeholders.
