About the role

We are seeking an empathetic, self-motivated Community Mental Health Practitioner for a fixed-term, full-time opportunity until 30 June 2027, delivering outreach support across the East Gippsland region. In this role, you will support people living with mental ill-health in the community to achieve their recovery goals, build confidence, strengthen social connections, and live independently. The role involves outreach support combined with administration duties that can be performed from home.

 

This opportunity is ideal for someone already based in the East Gippsland region or willing to relocate. A company car will be provided for travel.

 

About the service

The Early Intervention Psychological Support Response Service (EIPSRS) provides tailored, person-centred recovery support for people living with mental ill-health. Offering up to 12 months of individualised, tiered support, services include one-on-one outreach, individual support, and group programs. EIPSRS helps people enhance recovery, achieve wellbeing goals, build life skills, maintain housing, strengthen relationships, connect with community, and live safely and independently.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality outreach services, case managed responses and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid people to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Use strengths-based, recovery-oriented approaches to help people develop daily living skills, capacity, and resilience.
  • Provide information and mentoring to people to establish connections with community, families and carers, create networks and access to relevant services.
  • Collaborate with a range of services, families and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to people’s recovery goals.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Experience applying therapeutic approaches such as trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and family-inclusive practice.
  • Ability to co-design, co-produce, and co-facilitate groups and educational programs.
  • Willingness and ability to provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccinations (3 doses required).
