About the role
This is an internal secondment opportunity for a compassionate Family Engagement Worker to join the Community Care Unit (CCU) residential service in Cairns. In this role, you will You will:
- Advocate for people while ensuring families and carers are informed, supported, and included in recovery planning.
- Provide practice leadership by mentoring staff in psychosocial rehabilitation, recovery programs, and family-inclusive practice.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and clinical partners to deliver integrated, person-centred care.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct support to people, fostering independence and recovery.
- Deliver family engagement activities, including education, advocacy, and connections to external services.
- Mentor and guide the team in family-inclusive, recovery-oriented practice.
- Plan and facilitate group programs to build people’s skills, confidence, and community connections.
- Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
- Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
