About the role

We are seeking a compassionate, dynamic Group Facilitator for a permanent, part-time role (25 hours/week) at our Step-Up Step-Down residential service in Rockingham. In this role, you co-create, -plan, -facilitate and -evaluate group programs that promote self-exploration, recovery, resilience, skill development and wellbeing.

 

You will create a safe, welcoming and non-stigmatising environment where residents feel empowered to participate, build social connections and work towards their personal recovery goals. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, families, carers and community partners, you will support residents to strengthen their skills, increase community participation, and improve their overall quality of life.

 

About the service

The Step-Up Step-Down (Kwelena SUSD) service in Rockingham is a 10-bed, short-stay residential program supporting adults aged 18 to 64 with psychosocial disabilities. Delivered in partnership with Southern Metropolitan Health Service and Housing Choices, this recovery-focused service provides a safe, therapeutic environment offering a ‘step-up’ alternative to hospital admission or a ‘step-down’ pathway to help people transition from acute hospital care back into the community.

 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Co-create, plan and facilitate groups and workshops to build life skills, develop social and community connections, and focus on recovery.
  • Work collaboratively with the Lead Practitioner to co-design, deliver and continuously improve group programs that support recovery and wellbeing.
  • Create a welcoming, respectful and emotionally safe environment that encourages participation and engagement.
  • Support residents to identify strengths, develop skills and work towards their individual recovery goals.
  • Engage and collaborate with families, carers, community organisations and support networks to enhance recovery outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to promote community participation, recovery-oriented care and continuous service improvement.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health related field as designated by Mind.
  • Qualification (minimum Certificate IV) in Employment, Vocational Training or Pre-employment Education, or similar field is desirable.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating and delivering group programs, workshops, education or training activities.
  • Experience working with people with mental health challenges and complex needs, including engaging with families and carers.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary to engage members and foster a collaborative environment.
