About the role

The Housing with Support residential service is a long-term integrated social housing program for people living with severe and enduring psychosocial disability. The Haven residences are staffed 24/7 and designed like a ‘home away from home’ funded through resident’s NDIS packages with practice guided by Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice, Haven service model and Dual Disability framework. The service works collaboratively with residents providing personalised 1:1 support, shared supports and group activities based on strengths and goals identified in an individual’s recovery plan to build daily living skills, strengthen relationships with families and carers, enhance social connections and community networks, and grow confidence and capacity to live safely in the community.

 

We are seeking compassionate, resilient Mental Health Support Workers for permanent, part time positions to work predominantly sleepover shifts. In this role the sleep over shifts will be 5pm to 11pm – Sleep on site, then work from – 7am to 9am. As a Mental Health Support Worker you will play an integral role providing person-centred, recovery-oriented supports to residents to achieve their wellbeing goals, develop capacity and life skills, strengthen social connections, enhance support networks and grow confidence to live independently.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Support residents to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid residents to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to a resident’s recovery goals.
  • Assist residents with personal care tasks where required.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Ability to provide information and mentoring to build capability, establish social relationships, create community networks and access to relevant services.
  • Experience in facilitating group activities for residents experiencing mental ill health is desirable.
  • Understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
