About the role

The Supported Independent Living (SIL) residential service is for people living with severe and enduring psychosocial disability. Clients are supported 24/7 and funded through their NDIS packages with practice guided by Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice, SIL model and the Dual Disability framework. SIL services work collaboratively with clients providing personalised one-on-one support, shared supports and group activities based on strengths and goals identified in an individual’s recovery plan to build daily living skills, strengthen relationships with families and carers, enhance social connections and community networks, and grow confidence and capacity to live safely in the community.


We are seeking an empathic, self-motivated Mental Health Support Worker for a permanent, part time (30 hours per week) opportunity to work alongside a caring team on a 24/7 rotating roster in the Albert Park area. You will provide clients with positive, person-centred services to support clients to achieve their wellbeing goals, build life skills, strengthen social relationships, enhance support networks and build capacity to live independently.


Key responsibilities

  • Support clients to return to their community and enjoy a meaningful life through an individualised approach to recovery.
  • Provide high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
  • Deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.


What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Experience in facilitating group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health is desirable.
  • Understanding of the NDIS and Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
