About the role
The Youth Psychosocial Support Package (YPSP) supports young people aged 16-24 years who are living independently or in the family home and will focus on supporting them to increasingly participate in, and contribute to community, social, educational, vocational, employment and economic life.
We are seeking collaborative and insightful Peer Practitioners for casual opportunities. In this role, you will champion co-design and lead co-production practices, always placing the relationship and the service user at the centre of their journey. You will work alongside people to understand their story, identify their goals, and support them to move towards what is possible in their lives through a relational care approach.
Ideal candidates have at least two years’ experience and a genuine passion for supporting recovery.
Key responsibilities
- Provide individual peer support grounded in your lived/living experience, including safe and purposeful sharing to build hope and support recovery.
- Utilise the Intentional Peer Support (IPS) framework to walk alongside individuals in distress.
- Design and facilitate group programs that support peer connection and wellbeing.
- Support young people to navigate systems and connect with services, education, employment and community supports.
- Work in a family-inclusive way, strengthening connections with carers and natural supports
- Contribute to co-design and co-production, service improvement, and ongoing professional development including peer co-reflection.
What you’ll bring
- Lived or living experience of mental health and/or AOD challenges, with a willingness to share your learnings to support others.
- Certificate IV or higher in Mental Health, Peer Work, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or other health-related field.
- Completion of Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Core and/or Advanced Training, or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (highly desirable).
- Experience, interest, or passion for supporting people experiencing mental health and/or AOD challenges, and their families or carers.
- A strong commitment to person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice.
- Must hold a valid, unrestricted driver’s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle. Kilometre allowance available for work-related travel.
