About the Service

The Housing with Support program is a service designed for adults living with severe and enduring psychosocial disability and co-occurring concerns and/or dual disabilities which have impacted their capacity to live independently in the community.

 

Participants are supported individually and in a group setting to better understand and develop strategies to manage the impacts of their mental health, enhance personal and daily living skills, create meaningful social and community connections, strengthen relationships with families and friends, and build confidence and capacity to live independently.

 

About the role

We are seeking resourceful and collaborative Psychosocial Disability Support Workers for fixed term part time (15 hours per week) night shift opportunity located in Torquay. You’ll provide calm, person‑centred overnight support, ensuring residents feel safe, supported and empowered while working toward their recovery, independence and daily living goals.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Provide a calm, reassuring overnight presence, supporting residents’ safety, wellbeing and recovery goals while responding appropriately to any needs that arise during the night
  • Support participants’ recovery journey by offering respectful, person‑centred assistance during evening and morning routines, helping them maintain skills and confidence in daily living
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment by promoting rest, emotional safety and consistency, and by engaging in supportive, recovery‑focused conversations when residents seek assistance overnight
  • Support continuity of care by communicating relevant overnight updates to day staff, ensuring participants’ needs, progress and any concerns are clearly handed over

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III) in Mental Health, Peer Work, or other health related field as designated by Mind
  • Experience and expertise in working directly with people with psychosocial issues, complex needs and with their families and carers
  • Experience in assessing need and working collaboratively to plan goal focused recovery using evidence informed approaches and tools to meet participants’ needs.
  • Awareness and understanding of the NDIS is required
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance and WWCC
  • Unrestricted Australian driver’s license, and ability to utilise personal vehicle to transport residents as required
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications and ability to perform these duties as required as part of the role
