About the role

The Keep Embracing Your Success (KEYS) service, is an innovative program bringing mental health and wellbeing supports to young people experiencing out of home care. Delivered in partnership with MacKillop Family Services, Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) and Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS), KEYS is a multidisciplinary program for young people aged 12-17 years experiencing highly complex emotional and behavioural challenges due to adversity who are currently in, or are likely to be placed in, residential care. KEYS is a transitional model and takes a new approach to supporting highly vulnerable young people utilising holistic, trauma informed therapeutic approaches.

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate Senior Mental Health Clinician for a Permanent, Part Time (hours to be negotiated) opportunity to reach into the KEYS home located in the Glen Waverley area. You will demonstrate clinical leadership, support the multidisciplinary team, and offer contemporary therapeutic treatments to the young people. This role will utilise expertise in delivering meaningful evidence based, time limited psychological therapies adjusted to meet the needs of young people with severe and complex mental ill health.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive and flexible therapeutic support services to clients, families and carers including advanced level of assessment, diagnosis, brief intervention, treatment planning and evaluation, education and research in accordance with professional, ethical and National Standards utilising significant clinical experience.
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership by providing clients with care coordination and advocacy to meet their specific needs, therapeutic interventions, and support translation and implementation into client care plans and whole of care team practice.
  • Provide mentorship of all members of the KEYS service team through clinical leadership and best practice.
  • Maintain a high standard of professional conduct and commitment to work collaboratively as a member of multidisciplinary team to provide integration and coordination between different sites or programs to facilitate the delivery of an efficient and responsive service to clients, families and carers.
  • Support linkages, networks and partnerships with primary, community and state-based physical and mental health care services within the KEYS model to enable holistic, integrated mental health care treatment and management for young people being supported by the KEYS program.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Mental Health, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, or other health related field and hold current registration with AHPRA, AASW or Mental Health Accreditation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex support needs associated with the impact of trauma and adverse events on a young person’s mental health, and their capacity for emotional regulation and impulse control in the context of alcohol and other drug use, intellectual disability, neuro-divergence, childhood development.
  • Significant experience in similar senior Allied Health clinical role supporting complex clients.
  • Proven experience in Youth Work, Community Services, Mental Health, Disability, Social Welfare, Housing or Healthcare or Government sectors is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and clinical expertise in flexible therapeutic support services including an advanced level of assessment, diagnosis, brief intervention, treatment planning and evaluation, education and research in accordance with professional, ethical and National Standards utilising significant clinical experience.
