About the Service

The Youth Prevention and Recovery Care service (YPARC) is a residential program providing short term, intensive treatment to young people aged 16–25 years living with mental ill health. The service provides personalised one-to-one support, shared supports, workshops and group work based on client’s strengths and goals as identified in their individual recovery plan. The service supports people with psychosocial disability transition from an acute hospital setting or to prevent hospital admissions by providing extra support to those entering directly from the community.

About the role

We are seeking an approachable, influential and youth-focused Service Manager for a permanent role (hours are negotiable, with a minimum commitment of 4 days per week) located in Parkville. You will lead a team and manage all aspects of the service ensuring the delivery of high-quality recovery-oriented services to clients, families and carers whilst accountable for achievement of service performance, budget targets and managing the service in accordance with approved systems, policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and model effective practice in working directly with people, providing support to families and carers, undertaking planning and delivery of group work, and working with local service providers
• Develop a service that addresses geographical barriers to ensure young people can access assistance effectively
• Model and lead the required work environment, culture, systems and processes necessary to embed standards, behaviours and practices consistent with the values, work health and safety, policy and legislative, and practice requirements.
• Identify and implement where possible professional development opportunities for employees to enhance capability and capacity.
• Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including opinion leaders, community groups, diverse communities, service providers, partners, government agencies and other organisations relevant to the work.

What you’ll bring

• Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field as designated by Mind.
• Proven experience in leadership and capability to coach, mentor and develop a team to achieve best quality service outcomes including experience in the provision of professional supervision.
• A track record in successful relationship development, stakeholder management and strategic partnerships.
• Skills and experience in advocacy, collaboration, facilitation, evaluation and problem solving.
• High level organisational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise, manage multiple complex tasks concurrently, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Able to obtain and provide evidence of vaccinations against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Pertussis/Diphtheria/Tetanus, Influenza, and COVID-19.
• Able to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications.
