Join our new Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service in Caboolture and play a vital role in supporting young people (16–21) as they transition from acute mental health care to community living. As a Family Engagement Worker, you’ll work closely with families, carers, and partners to ensure young people are supported to achieve their recovery goals, build independence, and thrive.
- Part-time (19 hours/week) | Fixed term until 30 June 2026 | Monday to Friday
- Base Salary from $100,776 (pro-rata) + Super 12% & Benefits

About the role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Family Engagement Worker to join our Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service. You will:
- Advocate for young people while ensuring families and carers are informed, supported, and included in recovery planning.
- Provide practice leadership by mentoring staff in psychosocial rehabilitation, recovery programs, and family-inclusive practice.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and clinical partners to deliver integrated, person-centred care.
About the Service
The Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service in Caboolture supports young people aged 16–21 transitioning from hospital to community living or preventing further hospital admissions. In a safe, homelike environment with 24/7 staff access, young people are supported to build independence, strengthen relationships, and achieve recovery goals. Services include one-on-one coaching, group programs, workshops, and activities tailored to each recovery plan.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct support to young people, fostering independence and recovery.
- Deliver family engagement activities, including education, advocacy, and connections to external services.
- Mentor and guide Community Mental Health Practitioners in family-inclusive, recovery-oriented practice.
- Plan and facilitate group programs to build young people’s skills, confidence, and community connections
- Collaborate with local service providers to connect young people with mental health, physical health, education, employment, housing, and social connections.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
- Expertise in family engagement work and co-design approaches.
- Experience supporting people with mental health challenges and complex needs, with the ability to coach and develop a team to achieve high-quality service outcomes.
- Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to provide proof of vaccination against vaccine preventable diseases or willingness to obtain required vaccinations per Queensland Health partnership.
