About the role
This is an internal opportunity for a self-motivated and compassionate Community Mental Health Practitioner for a permanent, part-time opportunity (16 hours per week) at our Adult Step up Step down (ASUSD) residential service in Bundaberg.
In this role, you will deliver person-centred, recovery-oriented support to people to help them achieve their recovery goals, build capacity to live safely in the community, develop daily routines and independent living skills, and strengthen social and community connections. This position requires flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and sleepovers.
Key responsibilities
- Purposefully engage with clients using techniques including: Brief intervention, Motivational interviewing and coaching, Family inclusive practice, Trauma informed practice, Conflict resolution
- Plan and develop group work programs that will assist clients to build their skills, focus on their recovery and work towards transitioning back to their natural community
- Support family and carer roles through understanding their concerns and the provision of information, education and referrals
- Make linkages and build relationships and referral pathways to maintain or create a range of local supports for clients.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
- Current CPR and First Aid certificate.
- Proven experience in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
- Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
- Ability to provide proof of vaccination against vaccine preventable diseases or willingness to obtain required vaccinations per Queensland Health partnership.
