About the role

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local services act as a front door to the mental health service system and provides a continuum of care and support including clinical interventions, wellbeing supports, and therapeutic support through an integrated mental health and alcohol and other drug framework approach.

We are seeking a self-motivated, empathetic Community Mental Health Practitioners for a Fixed Term, Part Time opportunity (30.4 hours per week until June 2026) to work in the Dandenong area. This position will play an integral part in working collaboratively with consumers to achieve their wellbeing and recovery goals through telehealth, one-to-one support, and group work facilitation to enhance recovery, personal growth and activities of daily living.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake effective screening of people utilising service and work closely with Welcome team members to provide effective support.
  • Acts as a conduit to other organisations and services in the context of a customer service mindset.
  • Keep accurate and up to date data records within data recording software systems as required.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team in supporting recovery-oriented practice and clinician interventions as well as actively participating in team, case and handover meetings.
  • Contribute to a workplace that values lived experience and the inclusion of consumers, carers and families in the work we do.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Counselling, youth work or other mental health related field including Occupational Therapy, Social Worker, Psychology or Psychiatric Nursing or other health related field as designated by Mind.
  • Demonstrated skills in working with people and families with mental health and/or contextual challenges including family violence, poverty, homelessness, drug and alcohol, protective issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise to meet customer service delivery requirements.
  • A lived experience of mental ill health and recovery or experience caring for a person with mental ill health is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in documenting client notes, reporting and working with a variety of electronic systems.
