About the role

We are looking for compassionate and motivated Community Mental Health Practitioners to join our Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service (YRRS) in Caboolture.

In this role, you will support young people aged 16–21 experiencing mental health challenges to achieve their personal recovery goals. You will provide person-centred and recovery-oriented support to help young people develop daily living skills, strengthen community connections and work towards their wellbeing goals.

This role works across a 24/7 rotating roster, including weekends, overnight shifts and sleepovers.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Support young people to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
  • Purposefully engage with young people using techniques including: Brief intervention, Motivational interviewing and coaching, Family inclusive practice, Trauma informed practice, Conflict resolution.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid young people to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Support family and carer roles through understanding their concerns and the provision of information, education and referrals.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to people’s recovery goals.

 

What you’ll bring

  • A minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health (or a higher qualification in a related field).
  • Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • An understanding of recovery-oriented and trauma informed practice.
  • A current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • A Current Blue card and NDIS Workers Screening check.
  • A current Australian Driver’s licence.
  • Ability to provide evidence of required vaccinations in accordance with Queensland Health partnership requirements.
