About the role
The Community Care Unit (CCU) is a residential service providing intensive treatment and recovery support to help people experiencing serious mental health issues whose lives have been disrupted making living independently difficult. Clients have 24/7 access to staff and are supported to stabilise their mental health, define recovery goals, build daily living skills, strengthen relationships, develop social connections, and increase their capacity to live independently. The CCU service offers personalised one-to-one support, shared support, workshops, and group activities aligned with each client’s individual recovery plan.
We are seeking a resilient and compassionate Community Mental Health Practitioner for a 6-month fixed-term, part-time opportunity (30.4 hours per week), with potential for extension. Working as part of a caring team on a 24/7 rotating roster in the Cairns area, you will provide person-centred, recovery-oriented support to help clients develop daily living skills, build community connections, and achieve their wellbeing goals for independent living.
