About the role
The Adult Prevention and Recovery Care service (APARC) and the Youth Prevention and Recovery Care service (YPARC) are ten bed residential services located in Bendigo, providing services to adults aged between 16 – 65 years and youth aged between 16 - 25 years, respectively. Mind staff provide 24/7 care for clients, with a Sleep-over shift at APARC and a Night shift at YPARC. The services work within a recovery focused and clinical treatment framework, using the partnership expertise of both Mind Australia and Bendigo Health.
The service is designed as a ‘step up, step down’ program for people with mental illness who require individualized treatment and support entering either directly from the community or as a transition from acute inpatient care.
We are looking for a compassionate and self-motivated Community Mental Health Practitioner for a casual position to join our supportive teams in the Bendigo area. You will provide intensive person-centred, recovery-oriented supports to clients to achieve their wellbeing goals, build capacity and daily living skills, strengthen social and community connections, and live independently in the community.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
- Support clients to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
- Provide information and mentoring to clients to establish relationships with families and carers, create community networks and access to relevant services.
- Plan and develop group work programs that will assist clients to build their skills, focus on their recovery and work towards transitioning back to their natural community.
- Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
- Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
- Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
- Relevant experience in facilitating group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications and ability to perform these duties as required as part of the role.
- Availability to work shifts across a 24-hour period, including Sleepover and active Night shifts 7 days a week
