About the role

The Complex Care residential service is a long-term integrated social housing program for people living with severe and enduring psychosocial disability in combination with intellectual disability. The residences are staffed 24/7 and designed like a home like residential setting, funded through client’s NDIS packages .The service works collaboratively with clients providing 1-1 support, shared supports and group activities based on strengths and goals identified in an individual’s recovery plan to build daily living skills, strengthen relationships with families and carers, enhance social connections and community networks, and grow confidence and capacity to live safely in the community.

 

We are seeking an empathic, self-motivated Mental Health Support Worker opportunity to work alongside a caring team on a 24/7 rotating roster in the Werribee area. You will play an integral role providing positive person-centred, recovery-oriented supports to clients to achieve wellbeing goals, develop capacity and life skills, strengthen social connections, enhance support networks and grow confidence to live independently.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
  • Support clients to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Ability to provide information and mentoring to build capability, establish social relationships, create community networks and access to relevant services.
  • Experience in facilitating group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health is desirable.
  • Understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
