About the role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Family Engagement Worker to join our Community Care Unit (CCU) in Toowoomba.
In this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure families and carers are actively engaged in recovery planning and service delivery. You will provide advocacy, information, support, and referrals, while strengthening family relationships and supporting meaningful participation in recovery journeys. You will also contribute to practice leadership in family inclusive approaches and support continuous service improvement.
About the Service
The Community Care Unit (CCU) is a longer-term residential service providing intensive treatment and recovery support for people experiencing serious mental health challenges. The service supports individuals to stabilise their mental health, build daily living skills, and transition safely back into the community from a hospital environment. Clients have access to staff 24/7 and are supported by a multidisciplinary team including clinical staff, Community Mental Health Practitioners and Peer Workers.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver family engagement work in line with recovery-oriented and family inclusive practice frameworks.
- Advocate for and support families, carers and support networks throughout the recovery journey.
- Develop and implement family engagement initiatives in collaboration with clinical and operational teams.
- Provide information, education, referrals and general support to families and carers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families, carers, service providers and community stakeholders.
- Contribute to co-design, evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
- Expertise in family engagement work and co-design approaches.
- Strong understanding of recovery-oriented and family inclusive practice framework.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, families, staff and stakeholders.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Able to provide a record of Vaccination Preventable Diseases, or willingness to obtain vaccinations against measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, whooping cough, hepatitis B, and TB screening, in line with our partnership with QLD Health.
