About the role

We are seeking a strategic and people-focused Financial Operations Team Leader to join our Business Services team on a permanent part-time basis (30.4 hours per week). Based in Burnley, this leadership role is responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Finance Officer functions across our Melbourne and Sydney locations.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will work closely with senior finance leaders to uplift processes, performance, and financial service delivery across the organisation. This position offers the opportunity to lead a sizeable, capable team within a collaborative and values-driven environment, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and technology-enabled enhancements.

You will provide leadership, management, oversight, and escalation support for all processes delivered by the Finance Operations team, while ensuring effective service delivery and contributing to the overall financial stewardship of the organisation.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee and Lead end-to-end Accounts Payable and Receivable processes to ensure that essential preliminary work for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable process is carried out systematically.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives across operational finance functions, leveraging emerging technologies including AI, to enhance efficiency and support projects such as Banking Consolidation, Integration of Credit / Debit cards
  • Lead change management initiatives in an evolving environment.
  • Collaborate closely with finance and business leaders to deliver best-practice shared services outcomes.
  • Design, develop and execute a comprehensive Operational Finance improvement plan.
  • Review and understand the current processes, practices, needs, requirements and come up with strategies for improvements.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Manage the selection and development of staff.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Management or related field as designated by Mind and equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience and proven ability in undertaking all aspects of financial operations in a medium / large sized organisation.
  • Proven people management skills including ability to work effectively in a team environment and an understanding of how to lead and develop employees to their full potential.
  • Proven experience in Not for Profit, Community Services, Welfare, Mental Health, Allied Health or Healthcare is highly desirable.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with direct reports and management.
