About the role

This is an internal opportunity for a motivated and compassionate Lead Practitioner to join our Youth Step Up Step Down (YSUSD) service in Logan on a part-time, fixed-term basis.

 

In this role, you will provide practice leadership within a multidisciplinary residential service supporting young people aged 16–21 experiencing mental health challenges. You will guide and coach staff to deliver recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and family-inclusive practice in line with Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice. Working closely with the Service Manager and clinical partners, you will support a coordinated, strengths-based service response that promotes recovery, independence, and successful transition back into the community.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to young people by developing individual recovery plans, enhancing daily living skills, and fostering independence.
  • Guide and mentor Community Mental Health Practitioners through coaching, training, and professional development to foster a high-performing, collaborative team.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver group programs to help young people build skills, focus on recovery, and transition back to the community.
  • Collaborate with local service providers to connect young people with appropriate supports, including mental and physical health services, education, employment, housing, and social opportunities.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and family-inclusive practice.
  • Ability to provide a record of vaccination for Vaccine Preventable Diseases or willingness to obtain vaccinations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chickenpox, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis B, or other diseases as required through our partnership with QLD Health.
