About the role
The Lived Experience function within Mind’s Support Hub leads and supports mental health system reform and service innovation informed by lived expertise, intersectionality, human rights and social justice. Within this function, the Lived Experience Workforce team leads an organisation-wide program of work to develop, support and embed the lived and living experience workforce.
We are seeking a self-motivated Lived Experience Placement Coordinator for a fixed term month, part time opportunity in the Sydney area. As a designated lived expertise role, you will be responsible for leading the coordination, implementation and continuous improvement of student placement and early career pathways that support the growth of the Lived and Living Experience Workforce (LLEW) within NSW.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the coordination and delivery of peer work student placements across multiple service settings and regions within NSW.
- Work in collaboration with One Door to identify placement settings across their services.
- Establish, maintain and strengthen partnerships with RTOs, TAFEs and universities.
- Work closely with and in collaboration with Service Managers and Peer Mentors in services providing student placements.
- Support evidence-informed strategies that build the capacity of the lived experience workforce, ensuring fidelity to Intentional Peer Support, co-production and adult learning principles.
- Advocate for the value and distinct contribution of lived experience/expertise and develop pathways and stakeholder relationships that strengthen understanding of the lived experience workforce.
What you’ll bring
- Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/or Advanced training is required.
- Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Peer Work, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or other health related field as designated by Mind are also desirable but not required.
- Lived and/or living experience of mental distress and recovery, or as a family member/carer, with the ability and willingness to purposefully apply Lived Expertise to support positive impact, social change and the development of the lived and living experience workforce
- Understanding of Lived Experience Workforces, including workforce development, recruitment and operational requirements, with the capacity to champion change and advance the Lived Experience agenda across the organisation and broader sector with integrity.
