About the Service
Medicare Mental Health Centre (MMHC) Canterbury is an adult mental health centre offering a welcoming, low-stigma entry point for individuals experiencing distress or crisis. The centre delivers short- to medium-term episodes of care, connecting people to ongoing support through service navigation and collaborative care planning.

Our service is preparing to move into a larger, purpose‑built centre and will soon operate seven days a week. As we grow, we’re seeking team members who can offer flexibility, including weekend and afternoon shifts, to help us provide consistent, high‑quality care.
About the role
We are seeking an organised and solution-focused Operations Coordinator for a fixed term, fulltime (38 hours per week) opportunity in the Canterbury area. You will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the Canterbury Medicare Mental Health Centre, ensuring a safe and efficient environment. You will work under general direction of the Centre Manager, and provide general supervision to the Administrative Assistant.
Key responsibilities
Coordinate daily operations of the practice to ensure smooth and efficient processes, including:
- Meeting and event coordination
- Facility maintenance and adherence to work health and safety standards
- Budgeting, billing and financial planning support to the Centre Manager
- Stationary orders and IT equipment
- Onboarding support of new employees
- Maintaining accuracy in client database and timely data entry
- Support administrative duties where required (i.e. addressing enquiries and concerns, greet and assist walk ins, and coordinate and schedule appointments.
- Provide general instruction, supervision and support to the Administrative Assistant.

What you’ll bring
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in administration, or Cert IV in administration and substantial years of relevant experience or equivalent level of expertise attained through previous appointments, service and study.
- High level of organisation skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise, manage multiple complex tasks concurrently, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicative effectively and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes.
- Highly developed IT competence with Microsoft programs, client management systems, and the ability to adapt to new systems as they are introduced.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to support and supervise.
