About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Peer Practitioner Lead to join the Psychosocial Supports team in Perth. In this role, you will draw on your lived/living experience of mental health and/or alcohol and other drug challenges to provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to a peer support workforce.

Your work will champion the voice of lived experience, promote recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approaches, and support co-design practices that place the relationship and service user at the centre. You will ensure consistent, high-quality peer work across programs in line with Mind’s models, frameworks, and values.

About the Service

The Youth Psychosocial Support Package (YPSP) provides intensive outreach support for young people aged 16 - 24 in the Perth metropolitan area who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues, with or without co-occurring AOD concerns. The 12-month program helps participants improve their mental health and wellbeing, maintain stable housing, build confidence, manage day-to-day living, and start or re-engage with education and/or employment.

Key responsibilities

  • Utilise your own lived/living experience to guide practice, advocate for human rights, and foster a culture that values lived experience across services.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and practice leadership to Peer Practitioners, ensuring recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and intentional peer support approaches are consistently applied.
  • Deliver high quality services responding to the unique needs of young people offering a flexible and relationally centred approach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with families, carers, community services, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated, integrated, and high-quality service delivery.

What you’ll bring

  • Lived/living experience of mental health challenges and recovery, with the ability to apply this safely and purposefully in a peer leadership role.
  • Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/or Advanced Training, or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, is desirable but not required.
  • Tertiary qualifications are required in Mental Health, Peer Work, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or other health related field as designated by Mind.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and develop a team to achieve best quality service outcomes including experience in the provision of professional supervision.
  • Previous experience in a dedicated peer role (highly regarded).

Benefits

  • Generous not-for-profit salary packaging - up to $15,899 p.a. to reduce taxable income and cover living expenses.
  • Workplace Banking Portal - access to a variety of banking and lifestyle benefits through our CommBank program.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - support for you and your immediate family.
  • Fitness Passport - access to a wide range of fitness facilities for you and your family.
