About the role
The Social Work Graduate Supervisor for the Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals will be responsible for leading, guiding and supporting the Social Workers participating in the Graduate Program. The position will act as the direct line manager for the Graduates and provide supervision, mentorship and opportunities for reflective practice throughout their employment period.
We are seeking a self—motivated individual for a Full Time, Fixed Term (until Feb 2027) opportunity located in the Dandenong area. The role will act as the direct line manager for the Graduates and provide a safe and supportive learning environment and ensure mental health training, guidance in practicing Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice and role modelling behaviours aligned to organisational values.
Key responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Service Operations Manager and other stakeholders to develop a Graduate Learning Program.
- Support Graduates to develop individual learning plans that focus on their required knowledge, skills and abilities to work effectively in the mental health and wellbeing system.
- Lead, guide, educate and support Graduates by providing supervision and coaching, support with effective learning and development programs, mental health training and a range of educational experiences throughout their employment period.
- Support the Service Operations Manager to prepare and submit reports and outcomes in relation to the program to internal and external stakeholders, including advice, updates, insights and analysis.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including the Executive Director Victoria Operations, General Manager, Service Managers, Team Leaders, Human Resources, Learning and Development, Health Safety & Wellbeing, ICT and Finance.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary Degree or Post Graduate qualifications in Social Work, and eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (ASSW).
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Education or other related field and/or equivalent experience and working towards a suitable qualification is also desirable.
- Proven experience in Community Services, Mental Health, Disability, Social Welfare, Housing, Healthcare or Government sectors is required.
- Previous experience supporting new graduates, designing and developing learning and development programs, and understanding of learning techniques.
- Expertise in working directly with people with mental health issues, complex needs and with their families and carers.
