About the service
The Adult and Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing services, otherwise known as “Locals”, are a key recommendation from Victoria’s Royal Commission into mental health system. Locals are a key feature of current system transformation. The Locals will act as front door to the mental health service system and will provide a continuum of care and support including clinical interventions, wellbeing supports, and therapeutic support through an integrated mental health and alcohol and other drug approach.
About the role
We are seeking a self-motivated and approachable Team Leader – Wellbeing for a Full Time, Permanent opportunity (38 hours per week) high-quality recovery-oriented services to people accessing the service, families, carers and supporters in line with Mind’s Locals Service Model, based in the Dandenong area.
The Team Leader - Wellbeing plays a pivotal role in coordinating day-to-day service delivery for the Wellbeing staff in collaboration with all other disciplines. You will have delegated authority to make day-to-day operational decisions within established policies and procedures, to ensure the operational requirements of the service are met. The role will have oversight of service requirements and liaise with stakeholders both internally and within the community.
Key responsibilities
- Utilise your skills to lead delivery of Wellbeing services to people seeking support, carers, families and supporters as defined in the Locals Service Model.
- Coach staff to problem solve, develop creative solutions and remain motivated in meeting service user, family, carer and supporters needs and preferences.
- Oversee wellbeing group work programs in the Local.
- Ensure Wellbeing staff plan, deliver and develop group work programs that will assist service users to build their skills, focus on their recovery and work towards transitioning back to their natural community.
- Engage with leaders within the Local to facilitate access .
- Support, coach and mentor staff to think deeply, develop creative solutions and remain motivated in meeting people’s needs and preferences.
- Provide practice supervision/line management to staff who are providing direct support to service users.
- Contribute to a workplace that values lived experience and the inclusion of consumers, carers, families and supporters in the work we do.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field as designated by Mind.
- Experienced leadership skills within Community Services, Mental Health, Disability, Social Welfare, Housing, Healthcare or Government sectors is required.
- Proven experience in leadership and capability to coach, mentor and develop a team to achieve the provision of service that best supports the needs of the community.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of theoretical approaches, practices and appropriate service responses including family inclusive practice, trauma informed theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and harm reduction therapy.
