About the role
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local services act as front door to the mental health service system providing a continuum of care and support including clinical interventions, wellbeing and therapeutic support.
We have 2x Full Time, Fixed-Term (until Feb 2027) opportunities available as Allied Health Graduate (Social Work) in the in Dandenong area. We are seeking recent Tertiary qualifications Graduates in Social Work at Bachelor’s Degree or Post Graduate Masters level, or related area. The purpose of this Graduate program is to facilitate entry into the mental health sector for new graduates and to support them through a structured workplace learning program to develop the skills required for a successful career.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of a learning plan and work plan which identifies an individual learning agreement within a broader orientation process.
- Provide comprehensive and flexible therapeutic support services to people including an advanced level of assessment, brief intervention, treatment planning and evaluation.
- Provide support plans and short-term intervention methods of demonstrated effectiveness that are person-led and evidence based to meet the model of care.
- Participate in the planning and development of group work programs that will assist people accessing service to build their skills and focus on their recovery.
- Work with families and carers at the time of transition back to community.
What you’ll bring
- Recent completion of Tertiary qualifications in Social Work at Bachelor’s Degree or Post Graduate Masters level.
- A drive and passion to commence a career which supports people who have experienced mental health and AOD challenges.
- A developing knowledge of the application of theoretical approaches, practices and appropriate service responses including family inclusive practice, trauma informed theory, cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing and harm reduction therapy.
- A commitment to understanding of assessing need and working collaboratively to plan goal focused recovery using evidence informed approaches and tools.
