About the role

We’re looking for compassionate, motivated Community Mental Health Practitioners to join our team in a permanent part-time basis at the Adult Step-Up Step-Down residential service in Mackay.

In this role, you’ll provide person-centred, recovery-focused support, helping people:

  • build daily living and independent living skills
  • strengthen family and social connections
  • engage with local services and community supports

 

About the service

The Adult Step-Up Step-Down (ASUSD) is a short-term (up to 28 days) 24/7 residential service delivered in partnership with Queensland hospital networks and the local health service. It supports adults with a psychosocial disability to either transition from an acute hospital setting or prevent hospital admissions.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Build purposeful relationships with the people we support using approaches such as motivational interviewing, coaching and trauma-informed practice.
  • Facilitate group programs that support recovery, skill development and community reintegration.
  • Support families and carers through information, education and referrals.
  • Develop strong connections with local services and community supports to assist client recovery.
  • work across a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights, weekends and sleepovers.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Experience supporting people with mental health challenges and complex needs.
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to provide proof of vaccination or willingness to obtain required vaccinations in line with Queensland Health partnership requirements.
