About the role

We are seeking a self-motivated, compassionate Occupational Therapist for a fixed-term, full-time position within our Allied Health team, supporting people across Melbourne's Inner North suburbs. As a new graduate or experienced clinician, you will provide high-quality clinical assessments, flexible therapeutic interventions, expert consultation, and specialist services, including positive behaviour support and capacity building to people with severe and complex mental health challenges and dual disabilities.

In this role you will provide interventions in person, outreach or through telehealth, using strengths-based approaches to support clients to achieve recovery goals and improve their wellbeing.

 

About the Service

The Allied Health service delivers a range of specialist supports and clinical services to help clients with complex mental health needs and dual disabilities achieve meaningful recovery outcomes. Through a multidisciplinary team, services include clinical assessments, psychological therapies, mental health counselling, vocational assistance, and access to service provider networks.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver flexible therapeutic support services in line with professional, ethical and National Standards.
  • Provide evidence-based mental health interventions, allied health assessments, therapies and short-term interventions to meet client needs.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, families, carers, and service providers to develop integrated care plans.
  • Coordinate care and contribute to multidisciplinary case planning, referrals, and linkage to community services
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, service design and evaluation to ensure effective client outcomes.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Occupational Therapy, with current AHPRA registration.
  • Experience working with people experiencing mental ill health, dual disability issues, complex needs, and engaging with families and carers is desirable.
  • Proven skills in assessment, therapeutic planning and delivery within a recovery-oriented practice framework.
  • Understanding of the NDIS, Community Services sector, Private Health and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
  • Requirement to use a privately owned vehicle for work purposes, with the option to claim a kilometre allowance.
