You will coach and mentor staff, foster a supportive team culture, and collaborate with clinical and community services to help people achieve their recovery goals.

About the service

The Adult Step Up Step Down (ASUSD) is a short-term (up to 28 days) 24/7 residential service delivered in partnership with Queensland hospital networks and the local health service. It supports adults with a psychosocial disability to either transition from an acute hospital setting or prevent hospital admissions. ASUSD operates within a recovery-focused, clinical treatment framework, providing personalised one-on-one support, shared supports, and group activities based on each client’s strengths and goals as identified in their recovery plan.

  • Lead, coach, and support a dedicated team to deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented support aligned with Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice.
  • Provide direct, person-centred support to people, enabling them to develop independent living skills and transition back to the community through a staged recovery approach.
  • Act as the practice lead, providing staff with supervision, mentoring, and coaching, while modelling effective support to people, families, and carers.
  • Oversee daily service operations including administration, rostering, handovers, incident management, and monitoring of budget and compliance requirements.
  • Facilitate group programs that promote life skills, wellbeing, and social connection, using co-production and recovery principles.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with clinical services and community organisations to ensure a coordinated, integrated response to people’s recovery goals.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Proven experience working in mental health, psychosocial disability, or community services, including team leadership and supervision.
  • Strong understanding of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice, family-inclusive approaches, and harm reduction.
  • Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to provide proof of vaccination against vaccine preventable diseases or willingness to obtain required vaccinations per Queensland Health partnership.

Benefits

  • Salary packaging up to $15,899 p.a. allows you to allocate a portion of your pre-tax income to cover living expenses (e.g. rent, mortgage, child care, car leasing expenses)
  • Option to access Meal and Entertainment allowance up to $2,650 p.a. via Salary Packaging.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), provided by Converge International, for you and your immediate family members.
