About the role
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local services act as a front door to the mental health service system and provides a continuum of care and support including clinical interventions, wellbeing supports, and therapeutic support through an integrated mental health and alcohol and other drug framework approach.
We are seeking a self-motivated, compassionate Occupational Therapist for a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity supporting the Mental Health and Wellbeing Local services in Bendigo and Echuca. As part of a multidisciplinary team you will deliver high-quality clinical assessments, flexible therapeutic interventions, expert consultation, and specialist services, including positive behaviour support and capacity building to older people experiencing severe and complex mental health challenges, AOD, loneliness, isolation and dual disabilities.
You will use evidence-based, time-limited therapies adapted to meet the unique needs of older adults in line with Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver therapeutic support tailored to the needs of older people, in line with clinical and ethical standards.
- Conduct mental health interventions, functional and sensory assessments, and short-term therapies using person-centred, recovery-oriented practices.
- Develop behaviour support plans and provide responsive, evidence-informed interventions suited to the unique needs of older individuals.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, carers and external providers to create holistic care plans.
- Engage in care coordination and link older people with local community services to improve wellbeing and independence.
- Participate in service planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement activities.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary degree qualifications in Occupational Therapy, with eligibility to obtain AHPRA registration or equivalent accreditation.
- Previous experience in similar Allied Health clinical role specialising in working with older adults.
- Proven skills in assessment, therapeutic planning and delivery within a recovery-oriented practice framework.
- Understanding of the NDIS, Community Services sector, Private Health and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
